What's Changed For 2025

A Detailed Look At The 2025 MDX

The 2025 version of the MDX has improved everywhere, so let’s take a look at what you can expect when the vehicles start arriving at our dealership in June.

Enhanced Styling From Hood to Trunk

All 2025 MDX models showcase an updated, more assertive front fascia featuring a new frameless Diamond Pentagon grille and a redesigned diamond pattern grille mesh.

The sleek design is complemented by Acura's signature four Jewel Eye® LED headlight elements and "Chicane" LED daytime running lights.

A sportier look is offered by the MDX A-Spec. It features a more aggressive front fascia, along with a frameless Diamond Pentagon grille with redesigned mesh, blacked-out exterior accents, A-Spec badges, and new 20-inch wheels. The MDX Tech variant also debuts a fresh 20-inch wheel design.

The styling of the high-performance MDX Type S is further elevated with a new frameless Diamond Pentagon grille featuring redesigned open-surface mesh to enhance airflow to the engine.

Additionally, it boasts redesigned Berlina Black 21-inch split-spoke wheels with a machined finish. The Type S stands out with its exclusive rear diffuser, large quad exhaust outlets, and red Brembo® 4-piston front brake callipers.

Excitingly, two new paint colours are now offered for the first time on the MDX: the all-new Canyon River Blue Metallic and Urban Grey Pearl, previously seen on the 2024 TLX.

More Tech Coming Standard

Inside the Acura, customers will discover even more advanced technology and cutting-edge connectivity smartly integrated into the MDX for a premium cabin experience.

All 2025 MDX models now come equipped with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen interface featuring Google built-in, while wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capabilities are also standard.

Enhancing the new touchscreen interface is a more functional center console that further elevates the cabin experience with increased storage and improved access to the standard wireless charging pad.

Each 2025 MDX boasts the latest generation of AcuraLink®, offering in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi compatibility, over-the-air software update capability, and a wide range of available cloud-based services, including emergency roadside assistance, remote locking/unlocking, and engine start.

World Class Audio: Bang & Olufsen

Acura has long been renowned for its exceptional audio performance, and the 2025 MDX is the newest model to showcase an immersive audio experience crafted in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen.

Two cutting-edge Bang & Olufsen audio systems have been exclusively designed for the Acura MDX to enhance the in-vehicle audio experience with top-notch performance and sophisticated concert hall sound.

At the pinnacle of the MDX lineup, the 2025 MDX Type S with Advance Package exclusively presents a brand-new 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen luxury audio system.

Featuring 6 additional speakers compared to the previous system, it stands as the most potent Acura audio system to date, equipped with Bang & Olufsen Acoustic Lens Tweeters, an 8.8" subwoofer, two amplifiers, 24 channels of power, and an impressive 31 speakers, including 12 integrated into the headliner.

The MDX Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite A-Spec models are equipped with a new 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system that includes 16 channels with Acoustic Lens Tweeters and four headliner speakers.

These two custom Acura audio systems incorporate Bang & Olufsen's latest 3D Sound Control, along with the brand's exclusive Beosonic™ feature and proprietary Acoustic Lens Technology.

Bang & Olufsen's user-friendly Beosonic™ one-touch sound control interface empowers Acura MDX drivers to tailor a personalized in-car audio experience with four distinct audio moods.

The Acoustic Lens Technology by Bang & Olufsen evenly disperses high frequencies in a 180-degree horizontal pattern while minimizing vertical reflections, enhancing the overall feeling of space and realism for all passengers, allowing them to perceive every note and subtle sound.

Additionally, brushed aluminum speaker grilles engraved with the Bang & Olufsen logos further enrich the premium interior design of the MDX.

Driver Assitance Features Standard & Abundant

The Acura MDX establishes the standard for safety performance, both active and passive, as well as driver-assistive systems in the premium 3-row SUV category.

This is achieved through Acura's ACE™ body structure, cutting-edge front passenger airbag technology, and the comprehensive AcuraWatch® suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies – all of which come as standard features.

Standard on the MDX Type S Ultra, the new AcuraWatch® 360 comes with enhanced hardware.

This includes a revised front long-range millimetre wave radar positioned behind the Acura emblem, an upgraded front camera located at the top of the windshield, fresh millimetre wave radars at each corner, and a new steering wheel touch sensor.

Collectively, this hardware facilitates a range of new driver assistance features, such as:

  • Active Lane Change Assist: Can complete a full lane change automatically when the driver pushes the turn signal stalk halfway in the desired direction, while Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) are active. This feature is enabled on geo-fenced divided highways detected in Google Maps using Google built-in.
  • Lane Change Collision Mitigation: If the driver begins changing into a lane that is already occupied, the system can detect the other vehicle and steer back into the original lane. Additionally, if the driver begins changing lanes while another vehicle simultaneously changes into the same lane, the system can detect the other vehicle and steer back into the original lane.
  • Front Cross Traffic Warning: When driving at a low speed or pulling forward from a stop, the system can detect vehicles approaching from the side and warn the driver using audible alerts and displaying visual indicators showing the direction from which the detected vehicle is approaching in the Acura Precision Cockpit digital instrument cluster, the multi-view camera display (if active), and the head-up display (Platinum Elite A-SPEC).

AcuraWatch® 360 hardware enhances existing driver assistance and collision avoidance technology, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with smoother acceleration and deceleration, a longer-range blind spot information system (BSI), and a more capable Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS®).

For 2025, the standard AcuraWatch® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies on other MDX grades has been updated for enhanced performance.

It includes expanded functions of a new front single-lens sensor camera with higher detection accuracy and a new grille-mounted millimeter-wave radar.

Both the camera and radar have a wider field of view.

The significantly more capable hardware improves collision avoidance performance by better-recognizing attributes of objects, such as vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, white lines, curbs, and road signs.

In the rear, the blind spot information (BSI) system's warning range has been increased, enabling Lane Change Alert.

This feature can help alert the driver to detect vehicles approaching from behind in adjacent lanes.

Also standard on every MDX for 2025 is a new rear seatbelt reminder system.

It uses visual and audible cues to notify the driver whether rear seat occupants have buckled or unbuckled their seatbelts.

Turbocharging the MDX Type S Performance

At the core of the MDX Type S lies the Turbo V6, a 24-valve, dual-overhead-cam 3.0-litre engine unique to the Type S model.

It boasts direct injection and a single twin-scroll turbocharger, delivering 355 horsepower (SAE Net @ 5,500 rpm) and 354 lb.-ft. of torque (SAE Net @ 1,400 – 5,000 rpm).

This engine was meticulously crafted by the company's most skilled powertrain engineers, some of whom have been part of championship-winning motorsports programs.

As the most high-performing MDX to date, the turbocharged Type S is equipped with a sport-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission, double-wishbone front suspension, Brembo® front brakes, and the Type S-exclusive Sport+ driving mode.

Power is efficiently managed through Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ system with genuine torque vectoring, a feature also found in all MDX models.

This rear-biased system can allocate up to 70% of torque to the rear axle, with the ability to send 100% of that power to the outer rear wheel.
